Milk's Favorite Cookie

I have this memory with my brother Jason he would buy a pack of Oreos and a gallon of milk.  The day would be dedicated to watching movies and chowing down on some Oreos and we would finish them!  Not the healthiest snacking session I know. Fun times.

So after doing a quick research on Oreos I found out that they were produced by Nabisco.  Actually I knew that from the packaging but what I didn't know is that Nabisco is actually "National Biscuit Company" (I bet you didn't know that either!) lol

I heard that they came out with Oreo cereal once.  Unfortunately, I never got to try it. Is it as awesome as having a bowl of milk and dropping 5 Oreos in it and eat them with a spoon?

Right now the package says "Milk's Favorite Cookie" wasn't it "America's Favorite Cookie" at one point?  Did Chips Ahoy beat them? Who keeps track of these statistics? lol

What is your favorite cookie? Do you have a favorite kind of Oreo, double stuffed, peanut butter, etc?

Late night thoughts...

So here I am at 1:02AM feeling restless. I decided to sit down and start writing in my blog again.  They say that if you cannot go to sleep or aren't feeling sleepy get out of bed and do something to relax your mind and after a while try going back to sleep again.  Who said that? I don't remember but I'm fairly confident that I read it somewhere. I do believe it's true though because if you can't sleep and you stay in bed all you will be doing is thinking and watching the clock run.  That is no fun.

Today I decided to start writing in my blog again. It always bothered me that my blog doesn't have a typical theme.  It's just about random things so... that's what I've decided to call it.  Citadel of Thoughts.  There will be different times that an idea will hit me that someone else could find either useful and/or interesting and THAT will be what I write about.

When Opportunity Knocks You Must Answer!

Image from Lies Young Women Believe
I believe that we need to treat Opportunity as a friend.... when your friend knocks on your door, how many times will they try to knock before they leave if you don't open your door?  Let's say that your friend knocks on your door and you answer, but you answer rudely or act as if you don't recognize them?  Imagine if we were to treat Opportunity like our friend... perhaps they will come around more often? :)

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
― Winston S. Churchill

If we think about it... if we spend most of our time complaining about the things we don't like and talk about it and feel passionate about the things that make us mad, sad, upset, and all the other negative emotions...we leave no room for opportunity, happiness, and gratitude in our hearts.   With all the negativity in the news/media, conversations with our peers, etc it's difficult to remain positive in this world we're living in but we have to try.  Not really for everyone else's sake but for our own.

Challenge for today (or set it up for tomorrow if it's late now): Consciously turn a negative thought or conversation into positive one, three times today.  I would love to hear how this works out for you, please come back and comment with your experience.

This morning I received my usual daily email from PCMag.com highlighting the latest great deals around the web when lo and behold my camera (Canon EOS Rebel SL1) was featured as one of the specials for $519.00 at 42photo.com!  Now, Best Buy does not typically match internet prices online but in this case I just HAD TO TRY! I sent the manager an email explaining my situation of how I wanted to take advantage of this amazing deal online but I rather give Best Buy my business because I also want to take advantage of their no interest financing.  The manager emailed me back a few hours later and expressed the price matching terms of Best Buy and although they do not usually do this but in this one time occurance since I am a loyal customer he was willing to make me an exception.  AMAZING! So after work tonight I got my camera.  I am so excited right now I could scream.  (I don't want to scare my dogs though haha!)

Hello Autumn!

Autumn by BobbieAJ
http://fav.me/d1cmqgi
I love this time of year... the weather is cooling down and suddenly orange and brown is everywhere.  It always gives me a warm feeling inside as I find myself reminiscing of fond memories of my childhood.  I know I will soon have to dig out my jackets and sweaters.  I hope that we will be able to squeeze in at least a couple of camping trips before it gets too cold.  Texas is funny like that.  One day it's HOT and the next there could be snow on the ground.

Today I got back on Facebook after doing the 30 day challenge.  I had two job opportunities waiting for me when I logged on haha!  As far as my personal contacts... I didn't even have one.  I had notifications waiting for me and as I viewed them I realized there were mostly game invites.  Scrolling through the newsfeed it was mostly about the Ebola scare here in Dallas, memes', but most of it are things that I can't relate to.

The definite highlight of getting back on Facebook is to see my handsome nephew!  This kid is so darn CUTE!  We are due for a visit to Massachusetts soon. He is growing up way too fast. I wouldn't be surprised if he is starting to talk by the time we see him!

So anyway, back to Facebook thing - what I learned is that Facebook does NOT encourage social interactions with your friends, family, and acquaintances.  Facebook is merely a tool that CAN make it easier to communicate with those you love but you have to reach out and not expect people to contact you first.  I'm still going to use Facebook but I will not be going back to looking at it obsessively in the past.  I won't even download it on my phone again.  I will check it once maybe twice max a day.

Since I had my wisdom teeth pulled I haven't been posting much but with a new month starting, I hope I can start fresh, and post more regularly now.  Is there anything in particular you'd like to see me write about?  Please leave a comment! =)

Wisdom Teeth Removed

I decided that when I have kids and I have the opportunity to let them have all of their wisdom teeth taken out I am going to approve it when they are younger - so they don't have to remember it.   I had two of mine removed, both on the right side.

Thursday evening was when I had it done. Probably the most painful part of the procedure was with the anesthetic dentist needle, which they had to do 7 times because apparently I am not supposed to feel any sharp pain while they are pulling the teeth.  After the 7th one I convinced myself that if it didn't work I am just going to lie because those needles were so painful, I was willing to risk feeling the actual extraction.  The 7th one worked thankfully and they were able to pull out the bottom and top wisdom teeth without a problem.  He stitched me up and told me to not have any solids during the next 24 hours and avoid all straws until I'm fully healed.

I was prescribed Norco but he told me to take ibuprofen if I can because it helps with the swelling too.  I found that the mornings was when it hurt the most and I found myself wanting to take the Norco.  The bad thing is when I take that stuff I get so incredibly sleepy and I am pretty much useless the rest of the day.

So far my diet has consisted of mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, yogurt, blueberry/banana smoothies, pudding, and today I treated myself to some pancakes.  Oh man, I am so ready for a REAL meal. My gums need to hurry and fully heal already.

Have you had any of your wisdom teeth removed?  What was your experience like?
